From hip hop to indie rock to electronic dance music, nearly every musical genre is represented at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. Since 1999, Coachella has drawn massive crowds to the Empire Polo Field in Indio, and has grown to become one of the country’s most renowned music events and sought-after tickets. With a strong focus on sustainability, concert-goers are encouraged to carpool, conserve water and recycle, and camping on the grounds has become a very popular option as well.
In 2012, the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival expanded to two "identical" three-day weekends, essentially doubling the number of people who could attend. Regardless, tickets sell out very quickly after the headliners are announced in January. In addition to the 130 performers, there will be light shows, public art displays and tents where food and beverages will be sold. Coachella's 2018 dates are April 13-15, and April 20-22.
Attending the Event
Tickets are only available as a three-day pass. Visit the official Coachella website for more information on how to purchase tickets. In addition to event tickets selling out, surrounding hotels fill up quickly during the festival, so the earlier you book the better.
