Junior Senior Fun & Games

02/26/09

Seniors and their grandchildren are invited to come together for a free afternoon of fun and games at the Joslyn Senior Center on Saturday, March 28, from 3 to 5 p.m.

Young and old can show off their Wii bowling and croquet skills and match wits and strategies at checkers, chess, and a host of other games, while enjoying refreshments and each other’s company. All games will be supplied; seniors need only bring themselves and a friendly, competitive spirit to have a good time.

This is the third year that the Palm Desert Youth Committee has organized and sponsored an event that pairs seniors and young people. The Youth Committee created an annual mixer in 2007 as a way to bring the City’s youth and their elder counterparts, who are still young at heart, together. The Youth Committee is appointed by the City Council to participate in community projects and advise City staff and elected officials on issues affecting young people in Palm Desert. The Committee is composed of 15 voting members ages 13 to 18.

The Joslyn Senior Center is located at 73-750 Catalina Way. For more information, please call 346-0611, ext. 352.
