Take Me Home Huey

Take Me Home Huey is a multi-media traveling exhibition, featuring an authentic Vietnam Huey helicopter that San Diego artist Steve Maloney has transformed into a stunning and significant work of art. The project was created in cooperation with Light Horse Legacy, a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization, and USA Vietnam War Commemorative Partner, with the mission to bring awareness to Post-Traumatic Stress, inspire conversation and promote healing. Inspired by the 50th Anniversary Commemoration of the Vietnam War and the staggering number of veterans who take their own lives, contemporary artist Steve Maloney conceptualized and created this multi-media installation. The heart of the project is a 42-foot stunning sculpture for which Maloney repurposed a boneyard Huey helicopter, which was shot down with two casualties in 1969 during a Medevac mission in Vietnam. Rather than rest in one exhibition space, Take Me Home Huey has been travelling the country since 2015 as a colorful ambassador to major art and history museums, as well as significant public venues to pay homage to Vietnam veterans and raise awareness of the challenges of PTSD.
